ETHICS Lab Press is an independent publishing initiative based in London, dedicated to fostering agile, concept-driven philosophical research. Moving away from purely compilatory or philological exercises, our publications seek to render philosophical categories fully “operative” to address the contemporary challenges of our time.
Operating at the intersection of our three core trajectories—Ethos, Tech, and Habitat—ETHICS Lab Press bridges rigorous academic inquiry with broader intellectual engagement.
The House Style: A Commitment to Narrative Flow
All volumes published by ETHICS Lab, regardless of the series or language, adhere to a strict, unified typographic architecture. We publish in a classic 5.5″ x 8.5″ format, elegantly set in Palatino Linotype.
To ensure unbroken narrative engagement and essayistic freedom, we enforce a strictly no-footnotes policy. All necessary scholarly dialogue must be woven directly into the main text, supported seamlessly by the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS) Author-Date citation system.
Our Series
The Flagship Series | English Only
ETHICS Lab Studies is our premier collection of short-form, high-impact monographs. Written exclusively in English, this series hosts conceptually dense, internationally oriented essays that challenge established paradigms. It is designed for definitive, applied philosophical research aimed at a global academic audience.
Emerging Research | Multilingual
Designed as a dynamic incubator for early-career researchers and doctoral scholars, Notebooks offers a space for fresh, exploratory, and applied philosophical inquiry. Accommodating multilingual contributions (Spanish, Italian, etc.) framed by an English conceptual apparatus, this series captures the vitality of research in fieri. The ETHICS Lab Notebooks series operationalises philosophical phenomenology through speculative fiction. With this series, we introduce the concept of Dystosophy—a genre that merges dystopian world-building with rigorous moral philosophy. Our dystosophical approach aims to test the resilience of human agency against algorithmic optimisation, using narrative friction to explore the profound consequences of technological frictionless environments.
International Dialogues | Multilingual
Designed as a forum for established scholars and senior academics, Perspectives hosts rigorously argued essays that engage contemporary philosophical challenges across languages and traditions. By embracing the inherently plural nature of human knowledge, the series fosters structured dialogue within a global intellectual network.

Submission Philosophy
We privilege clarity over accumulation, and argument over apparatus.
We are not interested in exhaustive systems, but in focused acts of thought.
ETHICS Lab Press promotes a form of philosophical writing that is rigorous yet direct, conceptually precise yet narratively engaged. We seek work that confronts problems rather than catalogues them, and that remains intellectually sharp without becoming technically opaque.
